In the summer months of 2015 our team was joined by Aidas Liaudanskas. He is studying Engineering at the University of Cambridge, just finished his first year and was curious about the career opportunities in Lithuania. Since he is going to specialise in Biomedical Engineering, he enquired whether it was possible to join our team and we accepted.

During the ten weeks of the internship trainee had contributed to several important projects: accelerated Atrial Fibrillation detection algorithm; investigated the prototype bracelet, designed to measure pulse by analysing bioimpedance fluctuations; developed accelerometer’s software, used in physiotherapeutic monitoring system. Finally, Aidas initiated his own projected. He has made an electronic myograph-stimulator – device that reads muscle activity in one place of the body and stimulates the muscle in the other part of the body. It works between different people, too! The idea sounds promising, we wonder where it will take him.

We are proud that our Biomedical Engineering Institute seems appealing for the students of foreign universities – Aidas told, that our equipment was amongst the most modern he has ever seen! We wish him luck and look forward to him returning to Lithuania!
