On 30 June Kaunas University of Technology, School of Economics and Business will open the first and only in the Baltic countries Bloomberg Financial Markets Lab.
This lab is the result of cooperation between world’s leading supplier of financial information ‘Bloomberg’ and KTU.
In the laboratory KTU students will have access to the information platform ‘Bloomberg Professional’, which is used by more than 320 thousand business leaders and financial professionals worldwide.
“The opening of this laboratory is a big step forward for the University to provide students with real, practical experience in their lectures. Here they will be able to experience the day to day business and financial market pulse”, – says rector of KTU Petras Baršauskas.
“Students learn from books, but the book does not reflect every hour a changing financial market and its processes. ‘Bloomberg Professional’ fills this gap. This is the real financial expert experience “, – says Karina Collis, Manager for Baltic states.
Dean of KTU School of Economics and Business Edita Gimžauskienė says that the fall students will face tasks to be carried out on the ‘Bloomberg’ platform.
“Almost all business economics and finance disciplines, which are taught to make decisions will be based on this platform. Even in the engineering sciences student must be aware of what is happening in the financial markets and must be able to read the business press”, – says she.
According to professor Andrius Guzavičius (KTU School of Economics and Business), with competent and motivated teachers, the laboratory will undoubtedly increase the KTU research quality.
“It will be useful not only in the social sciences, economics, finance, accounting, business, but also in other fields, such as mathematics, pharmaceuticals, energy, students, – says A. Guzavičius.
KTU Shool of Economics and Business Financial Department Head Rytis Krušinskas highlights the benefits of this laboratory for the entire national economy.
“The ‘Bloomberg’ laboratory benefits will be felt by the business and government organizations. Students who will work with this platform, will acquire modern knowledge required for professionals in the market, while topical research scientists will receive world-class information, because public information sources sometimes are quite limited and difficult to find “- says the professor.
